Saturday COVID lock-down. At CSU, where we never stand still in our student-centred culture, we were ready to deliver high quality learning and teaching in a transformed learning environment. Fifty of 61 final year veterinary students were in the introductory zoom session at 08.30am on the Monday. The students embarked on five days of insightful and impactful zoom recorded dairy practice information delivered by CSU associated, internationally located, progressive, confident and inspiring dairy clinicians. This was followed by time to reflect on, and summarise, the lectures and associated information by researching pertinent internet and library resources on the subject of the day.
Each day ended with a voluntary wrap up zoom session with the subject coordinator, ensuring we maintained mutually beneficial relationships and strong engagement with our students. Despite being suddenly deprived of the certainty of initiating their WPL placements, we supplied stability, empathy and a pathway to accredited progression.
